The Sun Voyager is a sculpture by Jón Gunnar Árnason located next to the Sæbraut road in Reykjavík, Iceland. Unveiled in 1990 it is described as a dreamboat, or an ode to the Sun. The artist intended it to convey the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom. It is made from stainless steel and stands on a circle of granite slabs surrounded concrete.
It's FREE to visit and it´s a lovely (sometimes blustery) spot to watch boats go by, spot jellyfish, have a snack or take an obligatory tourist selfie on route to somewhere else.
